What We Do at StoryWish:
Our Projects
SWIYA:
StoryWish Inspiring Young Authors Program
Run through each University chapter, our flagship StoryWish Inspiring Young Authors (SWIYA) Program matches college student mentors one-to-one with chronically ill children to write their own storybook. Mentor and mentee meet for a minimum of 10 hours, and the book is printed and shared with friends and family at the end.
StoryWish Inspires All (SIA) Program
An expansion of our StoryWish Inspiring Young Authors (SWIYA) Program, the StoryWish Inspires All (SIA) Program brings college student mentors to elementary school classrooms in each University chapter's community on a regular basis to teach story writing. Students write their own storybook as their final project. Details of in-school or after-school activities are dependent on specific schools.
Writing Workshops & Author Talks
All creative career professionals are invited to join their local StoryWish University Author Advisor Cohort as an advisor for program participants and mentor for student mentors interested in pursuing writing, illustrating, design, and more. Advisors hold workshops, talks, and open office hour drop-ins with students.
